Stunningly small. Masterfully designed

Masterful craftsmanship

Sacrifices nothing: Features a 6% thinner design with more power, plus no sacrifice to essentials like the headphone jack or microSD card slot.

Elevated essentials: Elements like the display, keys and touchpad are all larger for an easier, more optimized user experience. The XPS features a 6.8% larger 16:10 display, 17% larger touchpad and an edge-to-edge keyboard with larger key caps.

Cool and light: For the black palm rest, carbon fiber inspired by the aerospace industry, or the arctic white woven glass fiber palm rest, allow for maximum strength and minimal weight. Our design team worked tirelessly to get the details just right, including carefully crafted backlighting and a UV- and stain-resistant coating to prevent yellowing and staining. Watch Video

Precision manufacturing: 100% of the enclosure is sculpted by a CNC (computer numerical control) machining process. A high precision, machine-milled aluminum chassis creates an elegant design with high build quality that’s stronger and stiffer than magnesium or plastic.

Gleaming sidewalls: Anodizing provides a superior, scratch-resistant surface, but here, edges are dipped a second time to further prevent damage from repeated plugging and unplugging of peripherals. Using this finish on the metal achieves the perfect color without using paint, which could chip away over time.

The finest details: Stainless inlayed logos are laser cut out of a sheet of stainless steel and dropped into the machined cut outline by hand.

Easier to open: The new twin coil press fit hinge is designed to maximize the screen to body ratio and enable 4-sided InfinityEdge. The new hinge design makes it easier to open, while staying stable when you are using the touchscreen.

Superior screen: The latest Corning® Gorilla® Glass 6 is strong, as well as impact and scratch resistance.

More image: The stunning 4-sided InfinityEdge display enables us to bring a 6.8% larger 16:10 display to the 13-inch, all in a 2% smaller size than before, delivering a 91.5% screen to body ratio.

Revolutionary webcam construction: The new XPS 13 webcam isn’t just smaller (only 2.25 mm)—it’s also better. A new 4-element lens uses more elements than a typical webcam to deliver sharp video in all areas of the frame, while temporal noise reduction uses advanced noise reduction, significantly improving video quality, especially in dim lighting conditions. Finally, the lens is assembled with precise machinery to ensure all points of the image are in focus.

Advanced thermal redesign: From dual fans separated to spread heat over a larger area and a single heat pipe designed with a single evaporator and dual condenser, to hidden exhaust venting through the hinge, thermal design ensures you have the best performing system in the thinnest form factor possible. Additionally, your system is equipped with GORE™ Thermal Insulation, which provides thermal conductivity levels lower than air in a thin, flexible format to help keep components cool.

Saving our seas: Recognized as a CES® 2018 Best of Innovation Awards Honoree, our black packaging trays are a step beyond recycled. 25% percent of the material consists of ocean plastics collected from coastal areas, while the remaining 75% is made up of other recycled plastics.

Energy efficient: The XPS 13 is ENERGY STAR® certified.

Safer materials: Free of materials like cadmium, lead, mercury and some phthalates, it’s also EPEAT® registered and BFR/PVC-free.

Recycle friendly: 90% of the laptop’s parts can be easily recycled or reused, and the white bamboo packaging trays are 100% recyclable.

Resolution: Redefined InfinityEdge™ UltraSharp™ Ultra HD+ display with more pixels than before in a smaller footprint panel for stunning visuals and productivity. 13.4 inch, 16:10 aspect ratio. Ultra HD+ (3840 x 2400) pixel resolution 169 PPI, WLED screen. Featuring Dell Cinema, the screen presents superior views and consistent colors from every angle.

Contrast: The UHD+ panel found on the XPS 13 9300 offers an outstanding 1500 contrast ratio and good 0.35 cd/m² black value. As a result image quality is excellent with dark areas appearing very seamless. Stock DeltaE deviations are slightly elevated on higher brightness levels but after calibration values improve dramatically. ΔE Color 3.0 (calibrated ΔE Color 1.0) / ΔE Greyscale 5.2 (calibrated ΔE Greyscale 0.8).

Colour Gamut: The XPS 13 has the highest standard Premier Color screen that has been further improved to reproduce HDR superior dynamic range with Dolby Vision™ content colors. Dolby Vision™ content can deliver highlights that are up to 40 times brighter, and blacks that are up to 10 times darker. The perfect color reproducing screen for multimedia and picture editing that covers 100% sRGB on Full HD panels and 90% of DCI-P3 color-gamut on UHD+ panels. In conclusion, XPS 13 covers a full-color gamut and produces shades of color outside conventional panels that are the perfect display for ideal color coverage and incredible clarity on color-critical projects. And with over 16 million colors, images appear smoother and color gradients are amazingly lifelike with more depth and dimension.

Eyesafe®: Intelligently manages light energy at the source – selectively reducing harmful blue light and dispersing it across the light spectrum. Our unique solution combines RGB hardware and software adjustments to more effectively protect against blue light while maintaining vivid color integrity.

Screen Brightness: The Ultra HD+ screen has an outstanding brightness ratio score of 500-nit that is sufficient to be used outdoors or bright environment indoors while the anti-reflective coating greatly reduces glares and reflections to further help in bright indoors and outdoors while keeping the stunning lossless color quality.

Surface: The latest Corning® Gorilla® Glass 6 Glossy finish screen is a tough and damage resistant substance that helps protect the outer glass screen from common scratches, drops, and bumps of everyday use. The glossy finish is made of 0.65% anti-reflective coating screen that eliminates most reflections while keeping the stunning lossless color quality.

Brightness distribution: 13.4-inch inch panel offers seamless brightness distribution rate across the panel measured at 91%. The screen brightness distribution rate tells you how seamlessly brightness spread across the entire screen. It is measured using a luminance meter by checking the intensity of light emitted by an LCD area in six different blocks.

IPS Technology: IPS panels display consistent, accurate color from all viewing angles and do not lighten or show tailing when touched that is important for touch-screen devices, which means you can see vibrant colors and consistent images across a wide viewing angle from the side, above, below – almost any perspective.

Technical Analysis

Another major improvement for XPS 9300 is a new LPDDR4x RAM memory that is twice as fast compared to the previous XPS 13 predecessors that comes in three capacities 8GB, 16GB, or even 32GB never seen before in ultrabooks. The memory runs at 3733 Mhz and has a reduced I/O voltage to 0.6 V, however, integrated into a motherboard that is common for low-power consuming ultrabook class laptops, therefore it can not be user upgraded on demand. More memory means larger bandwidth and faster load times allowing you to switch between multiple running programs and/or under a heavy load, simultaneously smoothly without a stutter.

The Intel® UHD 620 is an integrated Processor Graphics (IGPs) produced by Intel that is manufactured on the same package or die as the central processing unit (CPU). GPU core operates at 300 – 1150 MHz frequency accessing the main system memory as its VRAM and is equipped with 24 shaders. The UHD 620 memory speed is 3733 Mhz at 128 Bit Bus width. Combined with the Processor it consumes up to 25 Watts. Compared to consumer cards, the gaming performance competes with GeForce 920M dedicated graphics card from Nvidia.

The fastest PCI Express® Gen 3.0 ×4 lanes NVM Express™ storage available on the market is what you’ll get inside. Dell’s pick is 256GB M.2 (2280) form factor PCIe® 3.0 ×4 (3.1a Revision) NVMe™ (1.2.1 Revision) 3D NAND architecture TLC Flash Memory Technology Solid State Drive that is four times as fast than a standard SATA SSD. The XPS 9300 has only one storage port designed to hold M.2 2280 NVMe SSD supporting PCI-Express 3.0 x4 expansion bus but is backward compatible and supports M.2 2280 SATA SSD with B+M key sockets. The storage can be user upgraded up to 2TB.
